Brno Zoological Gardens

The Zoological Gardens on Mount Mniší was inaugurated on 30 August 1953. We can recall some important milestones from history, such as the construction of the first pavilion designed for reptiles, amphibians, and fish (1956); the formation of the veterinary hospital with quarantine (1971); construction of the restaurant with terrace (1973) and the Education and Information Center (1981). Over the years, the zoo has grown to include runs, pavilions, aviaries, stables, swimming pools, and has transformed to its present form of a modern zoological garden. A favorite is the petting zoo where children can take a ride on a pony or pet some friendly animals, such as different species of goats and rabbits.
Educational programs are also organized – the zoo is active in projects to save endangered species. A rescue station for wildlife also operates inside the Brno Zoo. You can spice up your visit by watching feeding time for the animals – for more information, visit www.zoobrno.cz.

The zoo is well accessible using Brno's public transportation: trams no. 1 and 11, buses no. 50, 52, and 54, and trolleybus no. 30 and x30.
